Tips on Proper Storage and Cleaning of your Camping Screened Tents
Camping screened tents have grown widely popular as the tent of choice for summer or any sunny day camping gear. People like hanging out inside these tents that can protect them from insects like bugs and mosquitoes while enjoying the cool breeze that freely comes in and out through its mesh screens.

Most probably, you don’t go camping all year round. And because this is so, your camping
spends most of its time stored in a box or a closet. But this does not mean to say that because it is stuck in there that you stop taking proper care of it. In fact, there is a proper way of storing your tent that you should practice.
Before storing your camping screened tent, make sure it’s completely dried out. Hang it and air dry it out but never put it under the sun for excessive heat can damage the fabric.
Make sure that you store the tent in a cool dry place because it’s easy for mildew to accumulate in damp areas and high temperature can damage it. It will also be better to store your tent loosely in a large container such as a spacious box or sack that has some opening where moisture can escape in order to help prevent mildew formation. It’s very important to avoid mildew for this causes weakening of fabrics, coatings and threads.
Another useful tip is not to fold the fabric of the tent at the same place each time you pack it because in time, there will be fold marks at the fabric that can crack the waterproof coating of the tent. And to make the shockcord last, store the poles assembled if you’re not going to use it for more than three months.
Be sure that you store your tent in a place far away from all flame and heat sources which means it’s probably not a good idea to store it in the cabinet that are steps away from the chimney. Even though most tents are made of flame-resistant fabric, this doesn’t mean that they’re entirely fire-proof. And it’s always better safe than sorry.
Meanwhile, when it comes to cleaning your wenzel screenhouse, it’s recommended to hand wash it since washing machine and dryer can damage the sewn threads and the mesh screens. It is also important to use only mild detergents since the strong chemicals in other cleaning materials can weaken the fabric and cause for the color to fade.
If ever you notice that there’s mildew formation of your tent, you should take immediate action to prevent further growth. After washing the tent and rinsing it thoroughly with water, wipe the affected areas with a sponge dipped in a solution composed of 1/2 cup Lysol and a gallon of hot water. Or you can also use a solution of 1 cup of lemon juice and 1 cup of salt mixed with a gallon of hot water. After this, allow the tent to dry and this will kill the mildew on your tent.
Hanging out inside a camping screened tent is definitely a great way to enjoy the outdoors. Just be sure you store and clean your tent properly so that when time comes for you to bring it to a camping trip, it can be good as new.
