How to Pick the Perfect Campsite for your Tent

Camping is not all about the gadgets and the equipment. You may have the best camping equipment in the world but if you’re in the worst part of the country to go camping, you may still not enjoy the camping trip.

Picking a good camping site for your camping tent is therefore necessary to have a blissful camping trip that you won’t forget.

There are now a lot of parks that provide great camping tents not only for RV campers but for tent campers as well. When looking for a good spot, strive to find one that looks as natural as possible. An ideal site would have trees, bushes, water, grassy areas, and of course, a spectacular view. It would be better if there is little or no pavement at all so you feel more back to nature.

Another important consideration when looking for a camping gear to pitch your tent is to choose an area that has a spacious flat ground. Don’t pitch your tent on slopes unless you want to keep rolling out of your sleeping bag for the rest of the night. There should be a space wide enough for you to pitch your tent and do other camping activities such as cooking.

Also be sure to find a camping sites where your tent will not be under direct exposure to sunlight. Pick a shady spot because excessive heat can turn a camping trip unpleasant and can damage a tent’s fabric and coating.

However, although trees provide shade, it is not a good idea to put up your tent next to or right under the trees because of the danger of falling heavy branches as well as lightning during storms. What you can do is to pitch your tent at a safe distance from trees.

Try looking for a camping site for your tent camping that is near running water like a stream or lake. Water is an essential part of camping. You need it for quenching your thirst, cooking, cleaning and washing. And while you would bring a whole tank of water if only you could, it would really be helpful to have a natural source of clean water nearby.

But a very important thing to keep in mind is that running water is a different story from stagnant water. Still waters serve as a breeding ground for insects like mosquitoes and setting up a tent near one will ensure you of interrupted sleep and red mosquito bite marks all over your body the next day.

Most important thing to note after you’ve picked up a spot is to never forget your responsibilities to Mother Nature. Be sure that you clean up your camp spot before you leave. Don’t leave any trash or vandalisms on rocks or trees behind. Dispose all of your garbage properly.

Wherever camping site you end up setting up your tent, don’t forget to relax, enjoy and have a grand time.  This is what real camping is about.
