It wasn't too long ago that corntoss fell into the same category as the rest of the sleepy outdoor backyard games. Whether it was Bocce Ball, Horseshoes, or Volleyball, they were all similar type of games that you saw at the occasional family get together or random party, but not really anywhere else. But, in recent years, cornhole has emerged as the winner as more and more college students, young people, and everyone rushes to catch the latest craze that has swept the country. Now, just a short time later you are seeing things that are indicative of a real actual honest to gosh sport such as TV appearances, tournaments, and even movies. It's safe to say the cornhole game has come a long way!
The game is played with a couple boards and a set of 8 cornhole bags. The boards are placed 30 feet apart and the players take turns trying to pitch their bag into the hole in the opposing board. Even though the cornhole rules are a piece of cake, it doesn't stop people from playing hours on end to master the game. Its the perfect example of the saying "A minute to learn, a lifetime to master". The game has grown so much that I would bet that if you walk into any event around the midwest or walk through any midwester town, that you will see the game being played by a surprising amount of people. The game is especially popular with college students and younger adults. That's not too surprising given that its one of the few backyard sports that allows you to carry a drink with you while you play. Perfect for any college kid!
Up until recently, you couldn't imagine the pain you had to go through just to get some cornhole bags. That left you relying on someone that you knew that knew how to sew and was ok with making cornhole bags for you and your friends. It's gotten much easier nowadays to find products all over. Local sports stores are starting to carry them because of heavy demand from their customers and you can easily find them at many ecommerce stores. There are even recent innovations to release weather resistant bags which will prevent the bags from invasion by critters looking for the corn. This is great news for cornhole players because the ease of getting the equipment has made the game spread quicker. And it also gives everybody an opportunity to get ahold of the equipment at a reasonable price.
Businesses are also finding that gear can be an great way to promote their company and thank their customers. Because of the demand for this, cornhole dealers have started to offer boards and
cornhole bags customized with the corporate logo. This is great for sales professionals or small businesses who want to thank their best customers by giving them a unique gift. It's definitely something that is more thoughtful than a gift basket and something that will have a lot more longevity with their client. It's a great way to stick out in the mind of your clients and at least be known as the guy that gave a gift that the owner of the business and his family use every summer.
So, are you convinced that cornhole is the wave of the future yet? Maybe you can set the trend in your neck of the woods if the game hasn't already arrived. If you don't feel like shelling out the cash to pay for your own set, the cornhole building instructions can be easily found on the internet for no cost. With a little bit of carpentry skills and some spare time, you can have your set built and be ready to spread cornhole all around the area. It has stood the test of time by not dying out over the last few years by being a game the whole family can enjoy. Be the first to spread the word in your town!
